The Filipino Odyssey is an interactive and integrative textbook series for Social Studies in grade school that will guide the students as they discover their Filipino identity.
The series aims to respond to the Learning Area Standards prescribed by the Department of Education’s K to 12 Curriculum for Social Studies. Students are expected to show understanding of concepts about people, groups, communities, and societies—how they lived and have been living, how they relate to one another, how they interact with their surroundings, and what their culture and beliefs are—They will learn how people form an identity as Filipinos, as persons, as citizens of our country, and as citizens of the world; understand society with the use of research skills, analytical skills, and informed decision-making skills creativity, critical thinking skills, social skills, human resource skills, and communication skills.
The themes, activities, and exercises in this series are appropriate for the students’ age, abilities, and interests make learning meaningful, relevant, timely, enjoyable, and engaging to the students, and help them develop critical and analytical thinking. Relationships between the lessons and the different subject areas, especially Arts, Music, Physical Education, and others, are explored to make learning more meaningful and relevant. The series responds to changes and also contains relevant information and timely data and statistics.
